Your Courtroom Appearance
If you are appearing in court, there are a few things you should or should not do. You must wear the proper clothes. Dress as if you were going to a job interview. Men should wear a shirt with a collar and slacks or even a suit and tie. Women should wear a dress, skirt, or pants that are fitted appropriately. Shorts, sandals, and T-shirts are unacceptable. Excessive makeup or jewelry should also be avoided. Hats are never to be worn in the courtroom.
While you can bring family and friends to your court appearance, you should avoid bringing small children. If you are arrested while at court, your children may be taken by Child Protective Services if there is not a guardian present to take them.
